how labour market has being? I’m guessing you probably feel it is necessary to be very sure you are not one of those fellows roaming the streets of Nigeria with the anthem “I’m a graduate without gainful employment”! May I ask you this, what do you think the society expect of you for your claim? Hey!, don’t feel insulted yet, why not see for yourself reasons you should be tag a half-baked graduate.
how labour market has being? I’m guessing you probably feel it is necessary to be very sure you are not one of those fellows roaming the streets of Nigeria with the anthem “I’m a graduate without gainful employment”! May I ask you this, what do you think the society expect of you for your claim? Hey!, don’t feel insulted yet, why not see for yourself reasons you should be tag a half-baked graduate.
1. Curriculum
vitae
Am very sure this should be about the second
most important document you parade in your portfolio. But is your CV capable of
selling you and who you claim to be? If your CV is to be read with one million
others, can you beat your chest that yours will be eventually picked aside
luck? Even with your grade and age advantages, have you ever imagine why your
CV keeps getting to the LAWMAN’s trash-bin even when you actually submitted it
to CHEVRON? If you don’t invest an ample time to see the best trend of resume
writing and make the reflection in yours, am sorry, you are not done for real
world; hence half-baked! Get the gist of the new trend of CV writing in Nigeria.
2. Business
plan
Did I just hear you say “this is not
qualified to be amongst the criteria to judge”? Common! I like to put it to you
that a graduate with a degree certificate, CV but without a business plan is a
typical example of that which lack entrepreneurial skill. Remember you were
sent to school to be independent and not to forever depend on employers. If
your parents are millionaires and they’ve never for once propose to loan you a
million naira for a business idea of your choice, am sorry, you are
a half-baked graduate to them because they’ve never seen or you have failed to
show them any theoretical capacity (i.e. business plan) that you can
practically turn a kobo to Naira. Here are businesses
you can do here in Nigeria without robbing the bank and how to register your business in Nigeria.
3. Identification
Have you ever being to an environment and was
asked to present means of identification and you were like “I don’t have any of
these”? Listen, I now authorize you to go back there and
tell them “but am a graduate”-LOL! Am marvelled here, but how
can a graduate of a twenty-first century take the issue of personal
identification lightly? Do you know that not being able to officially present
your identity for sighting when demanded defines you as irresponsible? “Am a
graduate” will not tell a police that you are not a rogue! See steps to apply for important identification documents in
Nigeria.
4. Driving
I need to know the college you graduated from
if you claim to be a graduate but do not know how to drive! Take for instance a
friend agrees to lend you his SUV car to help brand you to your next employment
interview or business meeting at Eko Atlantic hotel and suite but you are
unfortunate to navigate a steering due to your ignorance in driving; and yet,
you disturb the neighbourhood of being a graduate! Here is how to apply and get drivers’ license in Nigeria.
5. Cognate
experience
There is huge abnormalities’ being condoled
by Nigerian graduates these days; maybe due to the economic decadence. Please
what is a trained civil engineer doing in a banking hall as staff; and
a theater artist in a construction firm? As for you, what is
the correlation of your present job with your acclaimed degree
credentials? Why are political scientists being secretaries to lawyers who play
active politics? Only half-baked graduates can be found in these scenarios.
Aside from being a hobby, only half-baked graduates seek to be engaged
discrepantly. Here is a list of some popular
recruitment agencies across Nigeria.
6. Associations/Professional
bodies/Forums
Are you a member of a professional
organisation in your field of study or related extensions? How many other
certifications have you added to your portfolio since your graduation from
college? I know you have a good grade but can you prove to me that you have
practically consolidated your knowledge with evidence of professional
certification(s)? If all you could say is a ‘NO’, you are pathetically undone
for the fierce labour market and hence, half-baked! Here is a list of some professional organization in Nigeria.
7. Investment
plan
I know you are good at saving for rainy days
but do you believe in diversifying funds to earn more-than allowing such funds
to lay fallow in your bank account for that ignorable and almost useless bank
interest accrue on it? A graduate indeed, most often, will look forward to
business ventures with investment opportunities for the sake diversification.
8. Reflection
and relaxation
How do you renew your mind? Where and how
often do you do that? Where do you visit for picnic, relaxation and
reflection? Am sure you ought to know that as a graduate, exposure to real life
is part of your lifelong experience. If your last time you took time out was
last year then you are nothing but half-baked! See the list of 20 good places you can visit for reflection and
relaxation.
9. Technological
know-how
What brand of phone do you use and what
utility app do you have installed on it? Am sure you are informed that the
internet is used for diverse purposes; but what exactly do you use it for other
than social media reasons? You claim to have computer proficiency, but yet, you
don’t know how many packages are in the Microsoft office suite not to talk of
working on it. Read how to make meaningful use
of the internet as a Nigerian and must
have applications for your phone.
