Hello everyone, I like to welcome you to my
diary; I promise the information therein will thrill your adventure. Sincerely, you
will be seriously glued to you device!
You see, while brainstorming and surfing
the internet for news few nights ago, I came across this catchy news on Premium
Times’ news
page. This news provoked my thought about the Nigerian society especially
our educational system. Would you believe that only one Nigerian university is
ranked among the top 800 universities in the world for 2015/2016 in the
TIMES Higher Education World University Rankings? The moment I
got this news, I quickly visited the page to see if it’s Adekunle Ajasin
University, yeah, “AAUA, the twenty-first century University properly called”!
As I had expected, it wasn’t AAUA but one
of those first generation Institution. I then begin to wonder where AAUA
currently stand in the Nigerian educational eco-system? In my quest to find an
answer, I decided to ‘put on’ my research cap (just like I did when writing my
final year project) to source information. Fortunately for me, I was able to
garner from popular result as published by one non-governmental organisation
named 4-International colleges and
universities Organisation-4ICU; which opined that the university
comfortably sit at the 33rd position on the radar in their 2016
edition of the top 100 universities in Nigeria.
Irrespective of all these, it might interest
you to know that the graduates of this prestigious institution really are
showing good representation of the school in their various niches and
spheres-here in Nigeria and across the globe considering the statistical
revelations of a research I conducted on a popular online professional profile
platform which has currently networked 3,563 of AAUA alumni as at April
2016-Linkedin.com. Here are my findings on where they live, where they work,
what they do, what they study, and their area of expertise.

With only 339 of Adekunle Ajasin
University alumni population residing outside the Nigerian terrain, this
demography shows the economic importance of the institution through its
products. It might however surprise you to know that there seem to be no
official and functional coalition which tends to maximize the potentials of
these professionals and technocrats unlike other celebrated counterparts? Or
could I validly say that the institution is not getting the necessary societal
hype and recognition (locally and globally) because its alumni platform is
barely active and has failed in its place to act as a stimulant for public
attention? What is your opinion about the AAUA alumni platform-dead or alive?
