Lassa Fever Returns After A Long Break...See The Terror Rat Responsible!

Hey friends, Lassa fever has returned after a long break to its home country! The disease was first discovered here in Nigeria in Borno state in 1969 and named after the town with which it was first experienced. Earlier this week, a doctor in Delta state was
confirmed dead from the disease; and a lot of people he associated with have been kept away from the public for twenty-one days observation. I am not going to waste your time by telling stories; I will only show you the face of the notorious specie of rat causing it; in case you have it in your room, kitchen or compound…Lol!

The painful thing about this deadly disease is that it can only be prevented but cannot be cured as we have it with siblings like HIV and Ebola. It is extremely communicable through bodily conditions like sweating, sneezing, saliva etc. (i.e. Inhalation and Ingestion) and sometimes through food items like Garri and Grainy food which are often spread for sun drying. Hence, prevention is by the way of keeping a good and personal hygiene plus clean environment.

From comments, the sufferer of the fever can still be healthy for about two weeks after which it gets to the chronic phase. And once it graduates to the chronic phase, the next is death- meaning that it can still be cured in the first few days of infection. Report also says that most people who survive the disease have very high percentage of being deaf in substitute for death!

This is a note of warning to everyone to be sensitive and report any severe fever around them; and halt self-medication especially this peculiar period.
